This eclectic restaurant serves up traditional food with flare. Always get your burger cooked Guinness-style (it's worth the extra cash). The chef here has a special touch with mashed potatoes and roasted beets. We're not kidding. Be sure not to miss the deep-fried s'mores dessert, either. Check the place out on Sundays, when entrees are $12 and check for nightly specials like Tuesdays pretzels with various toppings. Otherwise be prepared to pay. Flare isn’t cheap.
Seriously, I salivate en route to the place. Sous-vide pork, bacon burgers, cheesy grits, smores.... Ugh. I'm salivating right now. If you haven't been, go.
Yum. Yum yum yum yum. Where else in Baltimore will a live goldfish be brought to your table? Where else can you mix mac and cheese with chocolate for winning results? Where else do you have your pick of several sous vide entrees? Jack's is one of the city's best restaurants. Go early. Go often.
My data and I were excited to try out Jack's for Valentine's Day but we were sadly disappointed when we arrived. We had made reservations a week and a half in advance but were seated in the overflow seating by the bar at small tables near the door. The neighboring couples were less than an arm's length away from our table, which made it difficult to even take your coat off let alone hear my date over the conversations of others. The food was good but was served in VERY small portions, which made it not worth the money or the uncomfortable seating arrangements. If you can overcome the establishment's lack of consideration for their guests' comfort you may enjoy Jack;s Bistro, however, my advice is to take your money and your date elsewhere.
