The show was truly amazing. As a child I've been to see Ringling Bros. B&B Circus numerous times but Cirque is head and shoulders a far more entertaining experience. The format is far more intimate and the level of talent is several orders of magnitude higher. I wouldn't recommend the show to families with young children as it was a bit risque` at times. However the Cirque crowd tends to be somewhat more sophisticated than the Ringling Bros. crowd. There are no animal acts so PETA should be pleased. I do agree with other posters that $15 for parking was an outrage. The parking lot was a mud patch and traffic coordination was non-existent. There were plenty of Baltimore City Police around to direct traffic coming in but they seemed to have disappeared once the it was time to evacuate.
So, apparently Westport Waterfront is in South Baltimore in a industrial area at the end of Russell Street. You take the Monroe Street exit ramp and it's to the left (in a windy sort of way). Also, allow extra time to get into the parking lot. It's a little slow-going.
The Cirque du Soleil performance was just great. But...$15. to park on a very muddy, semi-paved lot was insulting. The funneling of perhaps +1000 cars on the lot into a single lane, trash ladden, with boarded up houses on residential street -- might have been a bit scary for some who have never heard of or been to Westport before. The presence of the Balto. City Police Dept. could have been a real plus to provide visibility and directions for those who were bound to get lost trying to find their exit onto Russell St. north or 295 south. But they were not to be found. Not everyone has a GPS! This is less than desirable location from the previous Cirque du Soleil performance at Lot O at the M & T Bank site!
