The bands, Ravens games and dance parties are all great, but The Ottobar earns this spot because of its versatility. Not only does it book some of the more exciting bills in the city, but it has an upstairs bar that acts as its secret weapon, a spacious getaway from the appropriately dingy downstairs. Play pool and grab a cheap beer upstairs while you wait for the band, because it beats tapping your feet and incessantly refreshing your Twitter timeline.
