Constantine Maroulis knows a good gig when he finds one. The likeable former "American Idol" contender was seemingly born to play Drew, the rocker-wannabe character at the center of "Rock of Ages."
Maroulis was nominated for a Tony Award for his portrayal in the musical, one of the surprise hits of the 2008-09 Broadway season. And now, he's signed on to star in the national tour.
The show is set in 1987 and purports to be the love story between a small-town girl and a big-haired dreamer who meet in a legendary Los Angeles rock club. But, the musical really is a vehicle for the songs of such iconic '80s groups as Styx, REO Speedwagon and Twisted Sister.--Mary Carole McCauley
